just desoldering/soldering.. The chip is stuck in place by a polymer resin coat and it doesn't just 'come out' when you desolder everything. It literally has to be 'snapped' up off the board after desoldering. I really wouldn't recommend it if you dont have a fair amount of experience with a soldering gun. It will cost you much more than the $20-$50 for socketing if you screw it up...
